Teens take risks. Educate your teen.
Unfortunately but not surprisingly teens with food allergies take risks according to a study by Dr. Scott Sicherer. 42% said they would eat a food with the allergy label warning "may contain."
As an attorney I would never recommend eating such a food not just for the health risk, but if a serious reaction occurred, the food producer would minimize liability by stating that the consumer was warned.
According to the same study, only 60% stated they tell their friends about food allergies. To read more, go to www.aaaai.org/media/news_releases/2006/03/030606.stm.
