CDC Hospital Discharge study of food allergy patients
CDC conducted a hospital discharge survery of 9500 people 18 and under who had food allergy as a diagnosis on the hospital discharge. The results:
- Food Allergies increased 18 % from 1997 to 2007.
- 29 per cent of those with food allergies have asthma.
- 3 million children have food allergies.
- 2004 to 2006, there were an average of 9,537 hospital discharges per year with a diagnosis related to food allergy among children 0 to 17 years.
